Dr. Mark Banakis received his undergraduate degree from Loyola University.  He continued his education at the University of Illinois Medical Center where he obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.  Following dental school he completed a one-year internship at Evanston Hospital.  Dr. Banakis then had the unique opportunity to attend the University of Chicago Medical Center for his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery where he was chief resident for 2 years.  He has held teaching positions as Associate Clinical Professor in both the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Chicago.  Dr. Banakis is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.  In addition, he has received clinical and academic awards for his dedication to excellence in the field of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
